Welcome!

We're the Gothard Sisters. We love music that paints a picture, tells a story.

We write, compose and record songs with layers of acoustic instruments and using modern recording techniques and production. Our music takes inspiration from folk music traditions around the world, timeless stories, travel and nature itself.

When a Song Takes a Long Time 🍁

As I’m checking in with you all today, it’s already beginning to feel like Autumn: misty mornings, spiderwebs, leaves beginning to fall — and I’m not mad about it. This is my favorite time of year, and as we cozy up in the recording studio to work on the new Celtic Christmas album between tours, I’m reminded of a very particular tune and memories of writing it.

In early Autumn 2020, we released a mysterious instrumental single. We wanted to capture this fleeting time of year — nights are getting longer, days are getting shorter — and it always feels like you’re chasing the sun.

About the Musicians

THE GOTHARD SISTERS are contemporary Celtic folk multi-instrumentalists, composers and songwriters.

Blending Celtic, folk, classical and new age musical influences, the Gothard Sisters bring songs to life with violin, acoustic guitar, mandolin, bodhran, djembe, whistle and vocal harmonies, creating music that is "vivid, inspirational and captivating." (Tim Carroll, Folk Words Review 2018)

Writing and recording near their home in the Pacific Northwest, USA, the band has released 10 albums and has performed over 2,000 live shows over the course of their career.
